The National Biodiversity Network (NBN) is charged with coordinating an Internet gateway to British biodiversity information held by institutions, societies, and individual recorders. The site is oriented to existing and potential members and offers funding advice, guidelines for data contributors, and reports and media releases on projects. The site also provides access to habitat and species dictionaries. The NBN has developed software for biological record collection, collation, and reporting that includes standards, metadata standards, a taxon dictionary, and mapping facilities.
