This round of Eurobarometer surveys diverged from the Standard Eurobarometer measures and queried respondents on the following topics: (1) cultural values, (2) poverty and social exclusion, (3) developmental aid, and (4) residential mobility. For the first major focus, cultural values, the survey asked respondents questions pertaining to the meaning and importance of culture, their interest and participation in cultural activities, and their national identity.

This round of Eurobarometer surveys diverged from the Standard Eurobarometer measure and queried respondents on (1) health, long term care, and the dependent elderly (2) undeclared work, (3) the European Union's (EU) relationship with neighboring countries, and development aid, and (4) euro coins. For the first special topic, respondents were asked to assess their health status, life expectancy, whether they have significant impairment in participating in certain activities of daily living, and their experience with health care services, including access and cost.

This round of Eurobarometer surveys diverged from the Standard Eurobarometer measures and queried respondents on (1) nuclear energy and safety, and several public health issues including (2) electromagnetic fields, (3) alcohol and smoking habits, and passive smoking, (4) organ donation, and (5) personal state of health and prevention. For the first topic, the survey queried respondents about their knowledge of and opinions regarding nuclear power and safety, the regulation of its use, their relationship with nuclear power, and nuclear energy as an energy source.

This round of Eurobarometer surveys diverged from the Standard Eurobarometer measures and queried respondents on (1) discrimination in the European Union (EU), (2) fighting against organized crime, (3) science and research, (4) justice, freedom, and security policies, (5) intelligent systems in vehicles, and (6) EU Humanitarian Aid (ECHO).

This annual survey, fielded June to October 2007, was conducted in over 60 countries to solicit public opinion on social and political issues. Respondents were asked whether their country was governed by the will of the people, whether its elections were free and fair, and whether democracy was the best system of government. The survey also asked for the respondents' attitudes about their society and their personal political leaning.

This annual survey, fielded July to September 2006, was conducted in over 60 countries to solicit public opinion on social and political issues. Respondents were asked for their opinions about globalization, their opinions about several countries, and whether they would like to live in those countries. The survey also asked the respondents about the United States' involvement in the fight against terrorism and about other issues such as the growth of the world economy.

The authors estimate the responsiveness of aid to recipient countries' economic and physical needs, civil/political rights, and government effectiveness. They look exclusively at the post-Cold War era and use fixed effects to control for the political, strategic, and other considerations of donors. They find that aid and per capita income have been negatively related, while aid has been positively related to infant mortality, rights, and government effectiveness.

This project updates INTERNATIONAL MILITARY INTERVENTION (IMI), 1946-1988 (ICPSR 6035), compiled by Frederic S. Pearson and Robert A. Baumann (1993). This newer study documents 447 intervention events from 1989 to 2005. To ensure consistency across the full 1946-2005 time span, Pearson and Baumann's coding procedures were followed. The data collection thus "documents all cases of military intervention across international boundaries by regular armed forces of independent states" in the international system (Pearson and Baumann, 1993).
